The sweet blooms of summer have finished their vibrant displays and a different kind of beauty will soon take their place, as the weather begins to change. The colours of fall will replace the beautiful flowers which blossomed throughout the summer. As the nights grow longer and the days shorter, the landscape begins to change. Mother Nature will pack its warm weather foliage away for another season, turning leaves deep red, orange, brown or yellow before dropping from deciduous trees, only to be covered in white snow.
Many birds begin their migration south, where warmer temperatures and plentiful food are waiting for them. Hibernating animals, who sleep during the winter months, not awakening until the warm sunshine of spring thaws the ice and snow, spend this time of year eating their fill. Fall is a time of change, a slow transition to winter, which only the hardiest outdoor enthusiasts, willing to brave extreme cold temperatures outdoors, enjoy.
Fall is apple picking season, with many varieties of this tasty treat ripening to perfection. Grain crops and corn are also harvested during this time, as well as pumpkins and other squashes. Enjoy the wonders of nature, a prerequisite for appreciating the season of fall.
